After welcoming all the participants by Fr. Mariusz Jawny SDB, the Regional Coordinator of the School, he began the meeting with the Lord’s prayer said by everybody in their own language. It was followed by worship hymns sang by musicians from Košice (Slovakia) - Fr. Laco Miko SDB and Michal Privarčák.
During the meeting Fr. Gildasio Mendes dos Santos SDB, the General Councillor for Salesian Social Communication, shared a word about the importance of this historical moment. He emphasized the important part that each Delegate takes in the area of Social Communication in Salesian style. He made it very clear, that the Delegates can benefit greatly from participating in the Salesian School of Social Communication and sharing their experience with each other. Fr. Gildasio also congratulated the Salesian Sisters attending the school for the proclamation of Chiara Cazzuola FMA as Mother General.
The second guest of honour, Fr. Roman Jachimowicz SDB, the Regional Councillor for Central and North Europe, addressed the participants, reminding them about their role as Communicators who reach young people and plant the Salesian ethos in their hearts. He also said that the Salesian School of Social Communication is a way to build a community in order to serve young people in best possible way using the media.
Fr. Harris Pakkam SDB, the Member of the Sector of Communication, Director of the ANS news agency, helped with interpreting during the meeting, as the school gathered English and Italian speaking participants. He also shared the idea of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival, organized by the Salesian Congregation for young people worldwide.
Finally, the Regional Coordinator of the School had a chance to introduce all the Delegates for Social Communication to each other and encouraged them to introduce other members of the Salesian Family that they invited for the school.
