Promoted by the Institute of Pastoral Theology, the curriculum comprises courses of preparation of the “pastoralist specialized in youth ministry”, i.e., competent in some specific sectors such as: research and planning in the field of youth ministry; teaching in proper academic environments; direction and corresponsible participation in structures of youth ministry, both in the local Church and in Movements or Congregations; serving at study centres, the sector’s of editorials and multimedia; local coordination and animation; formation of specific groups, such as operators of Youth Ministry and coordinators of oratories and youth centres.
The competence and skills developed through the course will enable the students to deal with theological themes concerning youth ministry, to interpret the situations of the life of the Christian community and of the youth, and to know how to communicate with such realities, to guide processes of education and evangelization, even in intercultural and interreligious environments, and to plan and organize youth ministry.
The curriculum requires a two-year attendance to the course (four semesters) and is concluded with the elaboration of a written test. A B.Th. or a seminary course of philosophical and theological studies is requested for admission. The seminary course may be integrated with an admission test and, if needed, with exams.
With this new curriculum, which is added to the one already offered in Youth Ministry and Catechetic, the Salesian Pontifical University launches a new proposal of quality for the education and evangelization of the young today.
