During this formation year, the house of Parañaque hosts 13 Brothers: 4 Brothers in the second year of formation and 9 Brothers in the first year (3 of them coming from India and 6 from Vietnam: 3 who did their practical training in FIS, 2 in PNG-SI and one in VIE province). In this way the community becomes ever more multi-cultural and international, a true bridge between the two regions of South Asia and East Asia - Oceania. Two senior formators guide the community - Br. Joe Ferrer and Fr. Bobby Roxas!
At the beginning of this formation year, the Salesian lay brothers who attend the “Sando House” participated in a seminar on inter-cultural dynamics, which the participants considered very enriching and helpful to favour the creation of links in the community. Now they are working on the draft of a Community Formation Plan.
The month of June is usually a good occasion to pray for Salesian vocations, and the memory of Blessed Stephen Sándor, on June 8, is a goof opportunity to pray for new vocations of Salesian lay brothers.
Currently there are 214 temporary professed Salesian Brothers around the world: 52 in the East Asia-Oceania Region, 60 in the two American Regions, 41 in Africa, 32 in South Asia and 30 in the two Regions of Europe. Every year some novices opt to join the Congregation as Lay Brothers.
