Quetzaltenango, Guatemala – August 2024 - The Mesoamerican University, headquarters of Quetzaltenango, presented the short film "Don Bosco's Dream", which celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Dream at Nine Years of Age. The students from the seventh semester of the Degree Course in Audiovisual Production, together with their professors, carried out the audiovisual production with the support of very young actors from the San Juan Bosco School in Quetzaltenango. The short film, visible at this link, was born from the initiative of the Department of University Pastoral Care, aware that multimedia communication tools are effective in reaching young audiences and bringing the message of the Father and Master of Youth, San Giovanni Bosco. 

Chalatenango, El Salvador – August 2024 – Campo Bosco 2024 took place on 16, 17 and 18 August , in which 340 young people from the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) from the six countries of Central America participated. The delegations from each nation were accompanied by Salesians of Don Bosco, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and Salesian Cooperators. With the theme: "Salesian, Jesus has a dream for you, let's discover it together", the participants had the opportunity to share an atmosphere of Salesian youth spirituality, where they could meet God in ordinary activities, full of joy and optimism. The young people spent moments of prayer, reflection and fun and shared testimonies about what it means to be a young Christian and Salesian. In the closing Mass, Fr Julio Navarro, CAM Provincial, recalled that this year the entire Salesian Family in the world is celebrating the 200th anniversary of Don Bosco's Dream at Nine Years of Age. He then said that "God calls us to put ourselves at the service of others and to this call of love we must respond with generosity".

Goma Democratic Republic of Congo – August 2024 – It was in an atmosphere of solemnity and spiritual fervour that the first Congress of Past Pupils of Don Bosco in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo opened on Thursday 22 August at the Kami Hôtel in Goma. The event began with a Mass of thanksgiving celebrated by Fr Gauthier Tshibangu, Provincial Delegate of the AFC-EST, and concelebrated by seven Salesian priests, including Fr André Kazembe, initiator of this Congress. The event, attended by Past Pupils from Goma and Beni, had as its theme: "Past pupils formed and committed to the good of the world; pupils formed for what future?". Those present were therefore urged to actively engage in the Salesian mission and to embody and promote the values of gratitude, communion, courage and generosity, values that are at the heart of the Salesian spirit. The congress, which will last until 25 August, stands as an important moment of reflection, sharing and commitment for all participants, with the hope of charting a clear path for the future of Past Pupils formed in the spirit of Don Bosco.

Vitória, Brazil – August 2024 – Professor Leonardo Miglinas at the UniSales Salesian University Centre in Vitória,, has been invited by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee to coach the Brazilian swimming team at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, scheduled in the French capital from 28 August to 8 September. For the professor of the Salesian Institute it is "a childhood dream, a very special moment". Professor Miglinas has been teaching at the UniSales in Vitória since 2008 and has previously trained two Paralympic athletes who won medals in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021, respectively. In June he had accompanied paratriathlete Mari Gesteira, who achieved a new American record in the 100-metre backstroke at the Berlin World Series.
