Panama – Palm Sunday at the Basilica of Don Bosco in Panama City

15 April 2025

Panama City, Panama – April 2025 - On April 13, from the early morning hours, the Basilica of Don Bosco opened its doors to hundreds of faithful who gathered with palms in hand and hearts ready to begin Holy Week with the celebration of Palm Sunday.
This special day commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem and was celebrated with deep devotion and fervor.

At 8:00 a.m., the traditional Palm Sunday procession took place in Porras Park. Parishioners of all ages walked together, singing hymns and praises as they made their way to the Basilica, reenacting the crowd’s joyful acclaim of Jesus as King and Savior.
During Mass, attendees were invited to welcome Christ into their lives with the same joy and hope shown by the people of Jerusalem.

At the end of the Eucharist, Fr. Carlos Vilanova, SDB, the parish priest, led a special commissioning for youth members of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), who will embark on Holy Week missions in various communities across the Darién province, spreading the Gospel through service and dedication.
