Hong Kong – “Meeting Nature, Walking with God”: Annual Retreat for Catholic Educators and Pastoral Workers
Hong Kong – April 2025 - To give Catholic educators and pastoral workers of the Salesian Family an opportunity to step away from their educational and pastoral duties, listen to their inner voice, reconnect with nature, and encounter God, the Salesian Office for Youth Ministry organized the “Joint Retreat for Catholic School Teachers and Pastoral Workers.”
Held on March 26, the retreat was co-organized and facilitated by the Environmental and Ecological Group of the Diocesan Commission for Integral Human Development.
The theme, “Encountering God in Nature,” guided participants to reconnect with both God and creation.
The retreat took place at the Pak Tam Chung P.H.A.B. Site and the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, bringing together over 40 participants from various schools. It offered a holistic journey integrating body, mind, and spirit. The day began with a spiritual reflection theme assigned to each participant. Facilitators then guided participants to become aware of their emotions, reflect on God’s presence in their lives, and let go of egocentrism to deeply appreciate the wonders of creation through sensory nature-based activities.
In the afternoon, the group took part in a meditative walk and celebrated the Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Anthony Pun, SYM coordinator. The day concluded with a heartfelt sharing session immersed in nature.
