07 April 2025

Kinshasa, DR Congo – March 2025 – To celebrate the Jubilee of Hope and the 150th anniversary of the first Salesian missionary expedition, the Provincial Delegation for Missionary Animation (DPAM) of the Salesian Vice Province of Congo (ACC) organized a pilgrimage to Tshikapa, in the Kasai Province, over 840 kilometers from Kinshasa.

Held from March 27–31 under the theme “Young People, Missionaries of Hope and Artisans of Peace,” the spiritual journey gathered over sixty youth from various Salesian and non-Salesian institutions across Kinshasa. The pilgrimage was led by Fr. Jean-Claude Mukendi, ACC Missionary Delegate, and Sr. Yolande Bengolo, FMA Missionary Animation leader in Kinshasa. Fourteen Salesians accompanied the group, offering support and workshops.

In Tshikapa, the local communities of Luime and Sami warmly welcomed the young missionaries. Together, they engaged in a series of missionary animation activities. The event marked a new chapter in missionary outreach, inspiring Salesians to launch more such initiatives to bring together youth from all over the ACC region to share in mission, both in joy and in challenge.

Over 150 young people participated in this mission encounter, which also included service projects to assist the most vulnerable members of the community.
