Italy – Full House for the Solidarity Walk “Su e Zo per i Ponti di Venezia”: 8,500 Walk for Salesian Missions in the Holy Land

07 April 2025

Venice, Italy – April 2025 – On Sunday, April 6, around 8,500 people participated in the traditional “Su e Zo per i Ponti di Venezia” Solidarity Walk. Including 330 volunteers and 200 folk performers and group leaders, the event brought together over 9,000 participants walking through Venice’s alleys and squares in support of Salesian missions in the Holy Land, the focus of this year’s solidarity project.

The 2025 edition, under the slogan “A Celebration for All!”, also embraced the universal Jubilee Year of the Catholic Church, echoing its message: “Pilgrims of Hope.” This year’s cultural itinerary, titled “Pilgrimages to Venice: A Journey Through Faith and the Serene Traditions,” explored the city’s rich heritage of pilgrimages, faith practices, and local church events—still meaningful to residents and visitors alike.

The walk was organized by TGS Eurogroup (Youth Social Tourism), a lay-led social promotion association supported by the Salesian Province “San Marco” of Northeast Italy. The event was co-sponsored by the Municipality of Venice, the Italian Navy, the Dicastery for Evangelization – Vatican Jubilee 2025, and several other organizations, including Salesian Past Pupils and Cooperators.

As in every edition, all proceeds will be donated to charity—this year, in support of Salesian works in the Holy Land.
