Chile – Salesian Educational Coexistence Day: A Space for Dialogue and Growth
Santiago, Chile – April 2025 – Coordinators of Environment and Support from Salesian schools across the country gathered for the Salesian Educational Coexistence Day, held on April 1–2 at the Lo Cañas Spirituality Center. The main goal of the event was to encourage the sharing of experiences and reflections, focusing on actions that help strengthen a culture of coexistence in schools within the Salesian network.
During the event, specific guidelines and approaches related to coexistence were presented, with special attention given to improving school support services—a key aspect of holistic education, as emphasized by Karin Cañón, the national coordinator for the Environment and Support sector.
Key topics explored included “Educating Through Coexistence” and “A Pastoral Approach to Love: Affection and Sexuality.” One of the highlights was a presentation by Cristian Dockendorf, a lawyer from the Federation of Private Education Institutes, who offered a detailed overview of legal tools for addressing complaints and appeals.
On the second day, representatives from Lirmi—a digital platform designed to optimize school management—showcased technological tools aimed at enhancing educational coexistence. A dedicated session also focused on promoting the wellbeing of school leadership, followed by a collaborative workshop where coordinators exchanged insights and strategies from their respective contexts.
The event reaffirmed the Salesian network’s commitment to fostering a quality, inclusive educational environment rich in values—where dialogue, collaboration, and teamwork are fundamental to students' integral development.
