India – Five Salesians Ordained Deacons on the Solemnity of St. Joseph
Chennai, India – March 2025 – On March 19, the Votive Shrine of Kilpauk, Chennai, witnessed the diaconal ordination of five Salesians—four from the Chennai Province and one from the Tiruchy Province. The ordination, held on the Feast of St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, was presided over by Bishop Neethinathan Anthonisamy of Chingleput. The ceremony was attended by Fr. Edwin Vasanthan, Provincial Economer of INM, Fr. Pathiaraj Rayappan, Director of the theologate Becchi Don Bosco in Chennai, along with numerous Salesians, diocesan priests, friends, and family members of the newly ordained deacons. The celebration provided an opportunity for the faithful to reflect on the significance of the diaconate in the life of the Church. The Salesian Family of Chennai and Tiruchy rejoiced in this milestone, reaffirming their commitment to the Salesian charism and their mission to serve young people and those on the margins of society.
