Dominican Republic – "Mission Camp" of the Salesian Cooperators
Barahona, Dominican Republic – August 2024 – "Mission Camp" 2024 was held from 9 to 11 August in the Cambodia district of Barahona, involving 30 Salesian Cooperators from the Dominican Republic. The motto was "The joy of giving and sharing the bread that gives eternal life". The participants not only took part in evangelical activities, but also offered medical services to more than 320 patients, with the support of local doctors and the Acromax Dominicana laboratory. During the days, many children in need were also involved, receiving toys and school kits. Recreational moments were then organised, with prayers, music and songs. On Sunday 11th, the Eucharist of thanksgiving with the community was a space to reaffirm the faith and joy of giving and sharing the "bread that gives eternal life". The event was organised by the National Council of Salesian Cooperators of the Dominican Republic and the Mamá Margarita Local Centre in Barahona, with the support of the Salesian Community of Barahona and with the support of the 13 local centres in the country.
