Dominican Republic - The Salesians light up Barahona with the 4th edition of the Provincial Youth Award
Barahona, Dominican Republic – March 2024 - The 4th Edition of the Provincial Youth Award was held on 1 March at the Antonio Méndez Auditorium at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo-Barahona. This event, designed to highlight the talent and commitment of young people who excel in various fields, has stood out for its decisive attention to promoting the country's culture under the motto "We value our Dominican identity". The opening ceremony demonstrated the Dominican cultural richness, guided by the exceptional participation of the Dominican Children's Folklore and followed by an emotional prayer offered by Fr Carlos Matos. The event culminated with awards being given to individuals and institutions that have distinguished themselves for their hard work in educating and promoting Dominican values. The categories ranged from the promotion of children's rights to religious leadership, cultural development, entrepreneurship, the health sector, student merit, ecological preservation, political leadership, social services, excellence in youth communication work, sports and artistic performance. The day ended with the words of thanks and reflection by Fr Ysidro Ramírez. The Provincial Youth Award not only recognised individual talent, but also reinforced the collective importance of investing in the nation's future through education, values, and the holistic development of young people.
