Italy - General Assembly of the Don Bosco Network
Rome, Italy - October 2016 - Members of the Don Bosco Network and representatives of the main Mission offices met with the Councillor General for the Missions, Fr Guillermo Basañes, at the Generalate of the Salesians in Rome from 24 to 26 October for the Annual General Meeting and to plan the next steps in the development of the network. It was unanimously decided that the future of the DBN needs a strengthening of coordination and the union of the individual efforts of the organizations and their collaborators under the single umbrella of Don Bosco. Among the decisions made were the following: in the case of global emergencies the Don Bosco Network will continue the effective coordination of relief and reconstruction aid from NGOs and Mission Offices; to work on a common vision and shared unambiguous rules for planning and development offices at the global level; to strengthen cooperation with the Don Bosco International, which was also represented at the meeting, and cooperation with the Salesian Family in the protection and promotion of human rights, especially the right to education of children and youth.
