Portugal - Balasar in celebration for Blessed Alexandrina Maria
Balasar, Portugal - October 2023 - On 13h October, on the occasion of the liturgical feast of Blessed Alexandrina Maria da Costa, Salesian Cooperator, great mystic of the Eucharist and messenger of the consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Christian community of Balasar celebrated with great participation the feast of its spiritual daughter. The solemn Mass was celebrated by the Archbishop of Braga, José Cordeiro, along with the Provincial of Portugal, Fr Tarcisio Morais, the Salesian Family Delegate, Fr Artur Pereira, a representation of Salesian Cooperators in Balasar, Maria Rita Scrimieri, Head of the International Centre of Spirituality, and the Postulator General, Fr Pierluigi Cameroni. In the afternoon, Fr Cameroni celebrated the Mass at the end of which the act of consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was renewed, in front of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima placed in the chapel that holds the body of Blessed Alexandrina. This act took up the formula used by Pius XII in 1942. In Balasar, the Consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is renewed every year as Jesus had asked Alexandrina.
