Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - October 2023 - On 14 October, over two hundred people attended the screening of the short films of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival 2023 at the Paradise Cinema, Vision City, in Port Moresby. The event's chief guest was Archbishop Fermín Emilio Sosa Rodríguez, Apostolic Nuncio to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Fr Gregorio Bicomong, Superior of the Salepresided oversian Vice-Province of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (PGS), Fr Lawrence Arockiaraj, Salesians, Sisters, parishioners, students, media personnel and film lovers came together to celebrate the young people as they reflected on "Love builds peace and solidarity" in this worldwide event that spanned 50 countries and over 200 venues. Coordinated and organised by a vibrant team of collaborators and led by the East Asia-Oceania Region social communication coordinator, Fr Ambrose Pereira, the programme began with registration and a shared snack followed by film screenings. At the conclusion of the event, which was streamed live from Los Angeles, Fr Gregorio Bicomong used a film to remind everyone that each of us was created by God with a purpose. Concluding the programme, Fr Pereira expressed his gratitude to everyone for coming together and making this unique event possible. He said that the Holy Father and the Congregation's Social Communication sector are opening up avenues for our young people.
