10 May 2022

Chile - May 2022 - To achieve greater sustainability and significance of Salesian schools and to strengthen the space for joint exchanges and formation among their leaders, the Regional Meeting of Education of the Southern Pastoral Secretariat (SEPSUR) School was held on May 5 in digital mode. The event began with a greeting from Juan Pablo Vásquez, Director of the Salesian Schools Network of Chile, and the intervention of Sr. Ivone Goulart, representative of the FMA Youth Ministry Sector, who invited participants to deepen the challenges presented by the Strategic Planning of the Salesian School in America (ESA). Fr Claudio Cartes shared some points about the educational context of the continent, emphasizing: "Everything that happens in school is a mirror of what happens at the social level." For his part, Fr Rafael Bejarano, of the Youth Ministry Sector, presented the theme "Significance in Salesian School," pointing out that "we carry out the only mission of the Church, which is to evangelize. When we understand ourselves as acts of evangelization we acquire a spiritual note, keeping in mind that, a spirituality is a concrete way of capturing the Holy Spirit." A final reflection was made on education, pastoral care, the Salesian critical vision, and the educational method, culminating in the progress reports on strategic planning, where the responses of seven Provinces were examined in terms of ongoing actions and action plans.
