Mexico - Celebration of 75 years of Salesian presence in Zamora
Zamora, Mexico - February 28, 2022 - With a solemn Eucharistic celebration in the courtyard of the "Colón" institute of Zamora, State of Michoacán, presided over by Fr Filiberto González, Superior of the Province of Mexico-Guadalajara (MEG), the celebrations for 75 years of Salesian presence in that city began. The various groups of the Salesian Family, catechists, extraordinary ministers, benefactors, and supporters of the work took part in the Mass, concelebrated by the Salesians of the house, including the Rector, Fr Sergio de la Cruz. In his homily, Fr González concentrated on three words: gratitude, remembrance, education. Retracing the history of the Salesian presence in Zamora, he concluded by wishing that there is no lack of health to work in the service of God, the wisdom to distinguish its worth, and holiness to achieve fullness and happiness. The Salesians in Zamora currently manage schools, the festive oratory, catechetical work, focus on youth groups and the "Don Bosco House", which provides assistance and food to elderly people.
