(ANS – Rome) – In view of the 155th Salesian Missionary Expedition (29 September 2024), in collaboration with the Missions Sector ANS is pleased to present the 27 Salesians who will depart from the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians to place themselves at the service of young people around the world, as missionaries ad gentes, ad exteros, ad vitam. Let us begin today with Donatien and his Salesian joy in fulfilling God’s mission in everyday life: today he shares with readers of ANS his reflections on the missionary choice which will see him cross the ocean to go from the Central African Republic to Brazil.
(ANS – Rome) – At the end of the International “Shaping Tomorrow” Communication Conference (Rome, 1-7 August 2024), the General Councillor for Social Communication, Fr Gildasio Mendes, publicly presented his most recent two literary works, both dedicated to Don Bosco and motivated by the bicentenary of the latter’s famous Dream at Nine Years of Age. They are As seeing him who is invisible and Parallels 15 and 20. Today he shows us in detail the meaning and perspectives of the two books.
(ANS – Dili) – "A historic event, a celebration for the people of Timor-Leste, a celebration of the faith for the Catholic Church in the country": in a conversation with Vatican media, the Archbishop of Dili, Salesian Cardinal Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, outlines the first assessment of Pope Francis' visit to the nation, which ended on the morning of Wednesday 11 September, after two intense days of meetings.
(ANS – Hal) – Belgian athlete Isaac Kimeli has competed in two Olympic finals in Paris: the 5,000 and 10,000 metres. In the first, he ranked eighth, in 13'18″10. Isaac arrived in Belgium at the age of 15 and was welcomed by the Salesians in Hal, near Brussels. In an interview with Don Bosco Magazine, he reviewed his career and his time at the Salesian school.
