Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – May 2017 – On May 21st there was the celebration of the feast of Mary Help of Christians in the parish dedicated to her in Sabama, with the participation of about 700 parishioners of Sero, Gabutu, Sabama and Pari. Fr. Alfred Maravilla, Superior of the Vice-Province of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (PGS), presided over the Eucharistic Celebration, concelebrated by Fr. Sonny Fajardo, SDB, parish priest, and by Fr. Ambrose Pereira, SDB, Secretary of the Department for Communication and Youth Ministry of the Bishops’ Conference. During the celebration, 32 candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Ngebeni, Swaziland – May 2017 – On May 21st, the Bishop of the Diocese of Manzini (Swaziland), Msgr. José Luis Gerardo Ponce de León, IMC, blessed and consecrated a new church of Mary Help of Christians in the Salesian Missionary Station of Ngebeni, neighbouring the parish of St. John Bosco of Malkers and belonging to the Vice-Province of Africa Meridionale (AFM).
Smorgon, Belarus – May 2017 – On May 20th, at the Parish of St. Michael the Archangel, the Salesian Family of Belorus celebrated the feast of Mary Help of Christians. During the celebration, Msgr. Aliaksandr Yasheuski SDB, Bishop of Minsk and Mohilev, celebrated the 25th anniversary of his Religious Profession, together with his fellow-novices Fr. Uladzimir Kabak and Fr. Zbigniew Bartoszewski from Russia , Fr. Dariusz Luzynski and Fr. Bartlomiej Tuzinowski from Poland and Fr. Marek Gryn from Italy. Representatives of the Salesian Family of several cities of Belorus, Russia, Poland and Italy participated in this event.
Nashik, India – May 24th, 2017 – On May 24th, on the occasion of the feast of Mary Help of Christians, at the Don Bosco Parish of Nashik, Fr. Godfrey D’Souza, Superior of the Province of Mumbai (INB), presided over the ceremony of the First Professions of 5 SDBs and 8 FMAs.
Lubumbashi, D. R. of the Congo - May 2017 - On May 21, the Salesian Family and the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) created a pilgrimage in honor of Mary Help of Christians, culminating in the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Jean-Claude Ngoy, Provincial of Central Africa (AFC).
Las Heras, Argentina - May 2017 – The Salesian missionaries and the missionaries Daughters of Mary Help of Christians arrived in Argentina in the nineteenth century to announce the Gospel to the Italian immigrants. Sister Danuta Drewnowska, FMA, a Polish missionary, continues the work of evangelization in the village of Las Heras, a community of Patagonia that has about 35,000 people and a single priest available.
