Daejeon, South Korea - September 2017 - On September 22 and 23, the traditional Community Day of the South Korean Province (KOR) took place, with 60 young people from various Salesian Houses participating for the first time. Sunbury, Australia - September 2017 - On September 13, at the Lakeside Stadium, the Salesian College of Sunbury's 90th anniversary was celebrated. Of the Province of Australia (AUL), its celebrations included the Eucharist presided over by the Archbishop of Melbourne, Msgr. Denis Hart, with over 1,500 people attending.
New York, USA - September 2017 – On September 16, the Choir of the Sistine Chapel, directed by Mgr. Massimo Palombella, SDB, performed a concert at St Patrick Cathedral as part of their North American tour. Attending: Fr Timothy Ploch, Councilor for the Interamerica Region, and Fr Tim Zak, Provincial of United States East and Canada.
Araçatuba, Brazil - September 2017 - The "Unisalesian" University Center in Araçatuba, of the Salesian Campo Grande Province, has signed an agreement with NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), whereby ten students will attend training courses at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, USA, to meet and share experiences with industry professionals. From 8 to 14 October, the ten selected students will participate in the "Project for the Week of Technical Innovation", wherein they will present projects they developed in the Engineering course; the aim to foster a technical, scientific, cultural and commercial collaboration with NASA and the Brazil-Florida Chamber of Commerce (BFCC).
San Salvador, El Salvador - September 2017 - On September 10, the chorus and orchestra of the "Polygono Industriale Don Bosco" house performed a concert on the tenth anniversary of the "Opportunity" program of the "Gloria de Kriete Foundation." The Kriete Foundation provides its full support to the Don Bosco Industrial Polygon project for a comprehensive education of young people. Through the choir and the orchestra, created in 2012, over 400 poor and young people at risk have had an opportunity for human development and professional growth as musicians. Currently, the choir and orchestra of the Don Bosco Polygon are the largest in the country, with 250 musicians and 300 chorus singers.
Accra, Ghana - September 2017 - From 11 to 15 September, Youth Ministry Delegates met for a Conference of the Africa-Madagascar Province and Vice Provinces (CIVAM) to discuss various youth-related topics, including preparations for the Synod of Young People 2018. Delegates, led by Fr Fabio Attard, Councilor General for Youth Ministry, and Fr Anthonyraj Patrick of the Dicastery, also discussed the Youth Ministry Reference Framework.
