Yakutsk, Russia - December 2017 - From 6 to 9 December, the Salesian communities of Yakutsk and Aldan received the visit of two Sisters, Missionaries Servants of the Holy Spirit, from the city of Irkutsk. During their visit, the two sisters were able to see the activities of the Salesians with young people and their families. They also participated in various meetings and provided guidance on how to organize some activities for the children and educate them to be creative. The Salesians asked the sisters for their collaboration during the summer period; the sisters, in turn, promised they would collaborate towards the growth of the Salesian mission of Yakutsk.

Kiswishi, D.R. Congo - December 2017 - On December 10, the select committee of the Salesian Youth Movement of Kiswishi, Central Africa Province (AFC), held a day of prayer, meditation, accompaniment and listening on the theme of the Church's commitment in families and in the Salesian Family.

Jacareí, Brazil - December 2017 - On 9 December, Msgr. Hilário Moser, SDB, bishop emeritus of Tubarão, celebrated the presbyteral ordination of Salesian José Rodolfo Galvão dos Santos.

Vienna, Austria - December 2017 - On 8 December 2017, on the Immaculate Conception, two Salesians were ordained deacon in the Salesian parish of Vienna-Neuerdberg: Johannes Haas and Peter Rinderer. The sacrament was administered by the auxiliary bishop of Vienna, Mgr. Stephan Turnovszky.

Catania, Italy - 7 December 2017 - Salesians at La Salette in Catania celebrated their 70 years in the working class district of San Cristoforo. They arrived in 1947, after the end of the war, and gave priority to assisting the many young people who lived alone on the city streets, abandoned to themselves, exposed to all sorts of danger. Since then, the apostolate towards the weakest of youths has been lived with faith and perseverance; it now celebrates 70 years with the testimony of five Salesians who described the first steps, the school, the courtyard and reception, the life of the groups involved in formation, the associations, the importance of evangelization and of catechesis – all within a Salesian mission on the outskirts of a city.

Bangkok, Thailand - December 2017 - Salesians from the Thailand Province (THA) celebrated the 9th edition of the Salesian Games at the Hua Hin Vithayalai School from 6 to 9 December. The opening ceremony was presided by Fr Dheparat Pitisant, THA Provincial. The event was attended by about 3,000 students of various Salesian schools who competed in 14 sports.
