Manzini, Swaziland - July 2018 - From June 29 to July 1, the Youth Ministry team organized a leadership seminar for members of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) in Lesotho, South Africa and Swaziland. Fr Martin McCormack SDB, an expert on the formation of animators and author of the recently published book on the theme, "The many facets of leadership", urged participants to take inspiration from Don Bosco's style of leadership.
Ypacaraí, Paraguay - July 2018 - About 250 members of the Friends of Dominic Savio Movement and the Friends of Laura Vicuña took part in the vocational reflection camp that took place from 29 June to 1 July at the Don Bosco Institute. The participants lived three days of intense activity, exploring and studying aspects of the life of Don Bosco and the oratory, led by Fr. Francisco Miranda, and of the life of Mother Mazzarello, accompanied by Prof. Claudia Acosta.
Hong Kong, China - June 2018 - On June 30, at the Salesian primary school "Yip Hon Millennium", the Salesian Youth Day was celebrated on the theme "We Are Family", with many activities aimed at fostering dialogue within the family. The event was led by Fr Antonio Leung, Delegate for Youth Ministry, and attended by over 100 children from six primary schools of the Salesian Family in Hong Kong.
Yaoundé, Cameroon - July 2018 - From July 2 to 8, 120 young people from the Salesian communities of Ebolowa, Bafia, Yaoundé, take part in the first edition of the "Biblical Week" at the St Augustine Salesian theologate. The event is organized and guided by the Cameroon Youth Ministry team; Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Superior of the Vice Province of Equatorial Tropical Africa (ATE), discussed the theme: "The disciples of Emmaus".
Rosemead, United States - June 2018 – This summer, the students of the "Don Bosco Technical Institute" (Bosco Tech) are participating in internships sponsored by organizations such as "Boeing", "KCS West", "JMDiaz Inc.", and "Pasadena Biotech Collaborative". The students were selected based on their high academic levels, their technological skills and their ability in problem-solving. The internships shall provide an important practical experience to the students and will increase their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The "Bosco Tech" is on the list of the best private schools in America and, according to statistics, 75% of its graduates successfully continue their university education in scientific faculties.
