(ANS - Rome) – For the Parish of "San Giovanni Bosco al Tuscolano" 2019 represents an important year: 60 years have passed since that 2 May 1959 when the Parish officially began its pastoral life in the Temple dedicated to the Saint of Young People. To commemorate this event, several initiatives were launched on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Sunday 8 December 2019.
On 8 December, the church of Don Bosco in Rome celebrated the 60th anniversary of the dedication of the temple.
The church was built by the famous Sicilian architect Gaetano Rapisardi, who won the competition organized by the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Art on behalf of the Salesians.
On 12 September 1952 the first stone of the new building was laid by the Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara.
In Rome there are the "Rooms of Don Bosco", the rooms that hosted the Saint of the Young during his last trip to the Italian capital, from 30 April to 18 May 1887.
The place was opened to the public in 1934, after Don Bosco's canonization.
