South Sudan – A day of gratitude to celebrate the 15 years of “Don Bosco Radio 91.0 F.M”
Tonj, South Sudan – February 2024 – Salesian radio "Don Bosco Radio 91.0 F.M" celebrates its 15th year of "proclamation of the Gospel" and to commemorate this anniversary a day of gratitude was organised. It was on 5 February 2010 when the Salesian St Jospehine Bakhit Delegation of Sudan and South Sudan, at the initiative of Fr Cyril Odia, a Nigerian Salesian missionary, started the Don Bosco radio station, the first in the city of Tonj. Over the years, it has been named among the best radio stations of CRN, the Catholic Radio Network in South Sudan and today it broadcasts 15 hours a day, in 5 languages (English, Arabic, Dinka, Jur and Bongo). The motto of the radio is "Proclaim the Gospel", and all programs and broadcasts are focused on the proclamation of the Gospel. The gratitude day celebrations were attended by representatives of the government, several national and international organisations and ecumenical churches, but also by listeners, friends and benefactors. The day was celebrated with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr Nabil Demos Yohana Kuku, Deputy Director of Tonj's work.
