The organizations of the Salesian Family (schools, social platforms, youth centers) work to prepare young people for decent jobs and collaborate with public administrations and businesses to make this decent work tangible.
The 52 Vocational Training Centers (CFP) of Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Spain, with around 15,000 students and 1,200 educators, have for years had their own placement offices, job grants and guidance services to help young people find work. Relations with companies and the involvement of Salesian centers in the formation of workers, in courses for companies, and in relations with the industrial fabric of the surrounding area play a very important role. Furthermore, these organizations, in these years of economic and social crisis, have given rise to new and original initiatives to place young people in preferential market niches.
For their part, the Salesian Social Platforms manage 131 social and work integration projects in which they support more than 33,000 people, thanks to almost 600 employees and 100 volunteers. On 1 May, International Labor Day, these entities launched the "Experiences without decent work" campaign to invite people to reflect on the daily situations that nearly 11 million people currently live in Spain at risk of poverty and/or exclusion social, because they are unemployed or have a precarious job.
The Salesian youth centers (99 throughout Spain, with about 36,000 young people and 4,350 animators) are also working to improve the employment opportunities of young people. Thus, the Confederation of Don Bosco Youth Centers is a founding member of the "RECONOCE" association, which requires certification of the skills acquired through volunteering. And these days they are launching the campaign "Our future work is a meme" (a joke, Ed) to denounce the employment situation of today's young people, raise awareness in society and public bodies on the need to improve the employment situation of young people.
Starting from their daily commitment to the formation and education of young people, the Salesian bodies ask social agents to adopt policies and commitments in favor of decent, sustainable and inclusive work for young people, which allow people to develop a dignified and to participate in the construction of society.
