Valencia, Venezuela - December 2024 - At the Eucharistic celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, celebrated by the Superior of the Salesian Province of Venezuela, Fr Rafael Montenegro, the Salesian Cooperators John Paul II Centre in Valencia received the promises of Tania Pérez, Mireya Sequera, Delia Mejías, Maricarmen Suárez and Ofelia Martínez. The new Salesian Cooperators were welcomed in an atmosphere of joy typical of the Salesian Family, in the presence of the Provincial Council and the Don Bosco House Salesian community.
Kenya - December 2024 -The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) Forum 2024 took place from December 16 to 20 in Embu, Kenya, attracting over 500 young participants from various Salesian centers. The event was inaugurated by Fr. T.J. George, emphasizing the theme “A dream that makes you dream.” Participants engaged in discussions about life paths, including religious and married vocations, and enjoyed cultural performances. Dr. Wahome addressed sexual morality and the importance of discipline. The Apostolic Nuncio, Rt. Rev. Hurbertus Maria Van Megan, encouraged youth to lead disciplined lives. The forum included motivational talks from Bishop Peter Kimani and other spiritual leaders. Activities such as quizzes and reconciliation opportunities fostered community spirit. The week concluded with a final Mass and a group photo, capturing the unity and transformation experienced by attendees. Overall, the forum blended faith, learning, and enjoyment, empowering youth to pursue their dreams.The SYM Congress 2024 proved to be transformative for many participants, blending faith with learning and enjoyment while empowering youth to grow spiritually and pursue their dreams diligently.
Panjim, India – December 2024 - In December 2024, the Panjim Province celebrated the ordination of five new Salesian priests. Deacon Joswin D'Souza was ordained by Bishop Aloysius Peter D'Souza on December 17 at Christ the King Church, with a motto reflecting his commitment to serve with humility. The following day, Deacon Royal Fernandes was ordained by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo at Saint John Bosco Church, expressing gratitude for his vocation. On December 21, Deacons Sheldon Fernandes, Infancio Pires, and Savio Dias were ordained at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima by Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao. In his homily, Cardinal Ferrao highlighted the importance of the priesthood and encouraged the new priests to embody Don Bosco's values of compassion and service. The ordinations, attended by family and friends, showcased the strength of faith and community within the Salesian tradition.
(ANS) – Again this year, thousands of people in Salesian houses throughout Spain show their most supportive side by collaborating with a multitude of initiatives. Salesian houses organise food collections, such as "Operation Kilo", "Bote-kilo", Operation "Potito" or "Chupete", collecting food and health products for children. Parishes are also mobilising to promote their food banks, even more so at this time of year.
