Porto Velho, Brazil – December 2024 – On December 23, children and youth from the Salesian Missionary Childhood (IAM) movement gathered at the “Our Lady of Fatima” Parish in Porto Velho to distribute food and toys to impoverished families living on the city’s outskirts. The gifts were received by those supported by the “Centro Sociale Madre Mazzarello” (CESMAZZA), run by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. Sr. Goreti, who oversees the initiative, expressed her gratitude to the young people for their gesture of solidarity. Also present was Fr. Sérgio Lúcio, the parish priest, who led a prayer of thanksgiving to God alongside all attendees.

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo – December 2024 – On December 21, the “Salle Marie Auxiliatrice” in the Masina II neighborhood of Kinshasa hosted a gathering of Salesian school directors and educators overseeing primary schools, vocational centers, and secondary schools in the area. The event was organized by Fr. Jerry Matsoumbou, the Provincial Delegate for Youth Pastoral Care, and Mr. Jean-Paul, Director of Studies at the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Masina. The primary goal of the meeting was to enhance teaching methods within the schools managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco, fostering moments of sharing and group discussions throughout the day.

Tetere, Solomon Islands – December 2024 - From December 5 to 10, 2024, Jesus Youth Australia hosted two transformative retreats at the Don Bosco Rural Training Centre in Tetere. The Couples’ Retreat, attended by over 50 couples, focused on themes of God’s love, sin, and inner healing, featuring heartfelt testimonies and daily Mass led by local priests. Participants engaged in skits and discussions, with many experiencing significant spiritual breakthroughs during Adoration. The Youth and Kids’ Retreat began on December 8, drawing around 400 attendees, and emphasized personal relationships with God through sessions, activities, and skits like the Prodigal Son. Participants explored the impact of sin and the importance of confession, culminating in a Divine Mercy procession and renewal of baptismal vows. Alongside the retreats, the group visited Honiara City and met with Archbishop Christopher Cardone, enriching their experience. The week concluded with a celebration of faith and community, leaving lasting memories for all involved. Jesus Youth expressed gratitude to supporters, celebrating a journey of spiritual renewal in the Solomon Islands.

Tripura, India – December 2024 - St. Xavier's School in Tripura claimed victory in the Brass Band Boys' Category at the Eastern Zonal Level Inter-School Band Competition held in Guwahati on December 22, 2024. Competing against 10 teams from states including Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and West Bengal, St. Xavier's showcased exceptional talent, performing 12 musical pieces that captivated the audience. The three-member jury, consisting of experts from the BSF, Army, and Navy, evaluated performances based on synchronization, uniformity, and adherence to criteria. The school's triumph reflects the hard work and dedication of its 29-member team, mentors, and supporters. This achievement not only brings pride to Tripura but also highlights the region's cultural heritage, inspiring students to pursue excellence in the arts. The event celebrated teamwork and discipline among youth across the Eastern region of India.
