São Lourenço da Mata, Brazil – December 2024 – In the afternoon of 14 December, Salesian Deacon Leandro Francisco da Silva was ordained priest in the parish church of Our Lady of Light by Archbishop Paulo Jackson Nóbrega de Souza, Archbishop of Olinda and Recife. The celebration also involved Fr Francisco Inácio, Superior of the Salesian Province of Recife, Brazil (BRE), the parish priest Fr Jurandir Inácio, friends and family.
San Salvador, El Salvador - December 2024 – Salvadoran Salesians Geovany Argueta and Roberto Henríquez were ordained to the priesthood on Saturday 14 December, in the parish of Mary Help of Christians. The ordaining prelate was Bishop Walter Guillén Soto, SDB, bishop of the diocese of Gracias, Honduras. Concelebrating was Fr Julio Navarro, SDB, Provincial of Central America (CAM), and Fr Rolando Echeverría, SDB, Rector of the Salesian Theologate. In addition, more than 25 Salesians of Don Bosco participated, including celebrants, Salesians in formation and Salesian brothers. Also present were the Sisters of the Divine Saviour (HDS), the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), family and friends from different countries in Central America.
(ANS – Johannesburg) – The annual Salesian practical trainees (=regency, pastoral experience) workshop 2024 involving 7 young confreres from 6 countries (South Africa, Malawi, Congo, DRCongo, Malawi and Chad) was moderated by Fr Chris Rychcik SDB, provincial coordinator of formation at Bosco Youth Centre, December 13-16 focused on “Building Vocation Culture”.
(ANS – Chennai) – The Department of School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, has announced the state-wide screening of the recently released documentary film “Beno Zephine” in all schools during December 2024. Directed by Father Ernest Rosario and produced by the Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts (DBICA), the film chronicles the remarkable journey of Ms. Beno Zephine, India’s first 100% visually challenged Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer.
