António Barroso, on behalf of the Portuguese government, wrote to Don Michele Rua, then Superior of the Salesian Congregation: “The Portuguese government (...) strongly desires to promote the spread of Catholicism (...) through well-organized missions that can combine religious education with vocational training. This diverse region is characterized by majestic Himalayan boundaries to the north, borders with Myanmar to the east, Bangladesh to the south, and is connected to mainland India through a narrow strip of land adjoining West Bengal.

(ANS – Turin) – It is estimated that 10–20% of adolescents worldwide suffer from mental health disorders, yet many go undiagnosed and untreated. Alarming statistics highlight rising rates of self-harm and suicide. Children and teenagers with mental health challenges are especially vulnerable to social exclusion, leading to discrimination, learning difficulties, risky behavior, physical health problems, and violations of their human rights.

Jean-Marie Petitclerc, SDB, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province “St. Francis de Sales” of France and Southern Belgium—for a discussion on this crucial theme.
