01 - Rome, Italy - January 2017 - The 35th Salesian Family Spirituality Days took place at the Salesianum in the Generalate of the Salesians from 19 to 22 January.
02 - Rome, Italy - January 2017 - A meeting of the Salesian Mission Offices was held from 12 to 14 January. There were interventions from the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Fr Guillermo Basañes, Councillor General for the Missions, and Bro. Jean-Paul Muller, Economer General, Fr Václav Klement, Councillor for the East Asia-Oceania Region. There were over 60 participants from Mission Offices, Project Offices, Don Bosco Network (DBN) and members of the various Departments.
03 - Turin, Italy – 31 January 2017 – The Solemn Eucharist on the Feast of Don Bosco in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians was presided over by Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez Maradiaga, SDB, Bishop of Tegucigalpa, and concelebrated by Fr Francesco Cereda, Vicar of the Rector Major, and Fr Enrico Stasi, Superior of the District of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta.
04 - Dominican Republic - January 2017 - From 30 January to 2 February, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, paid a visit to the Province of the Antilles, accompanied by his secretary, Fr Horacio López.
05 - Panama City, Panama - January 2017 - The celebrations in honour of Don Bosco ended on 31 January with a procession through the streets of the city, attended by thousands of faithful. Mass was presided over by Cardinal José Luis Lacunza, bishop of David, and concelebrated by Fr Miguel Giorgio, Rector and Parish Priest of the Don Bosco Basilica.
06 - Namaacha, Mozambique - January 2017 - The Formation Community of the Salesian Novitiate in Namaacha has the pastoral care of the city jail. The novices, accompanied by the Master, Fr Adolfo Sarmento, with the support of the Salesian Cooperators and of the local Church, offer support to detainees, through training activities, prayer and spiritual accompaniment.
07 - Damascus, Syria - January 2017 - The Salesian House in Damascus celebrated the feast of Don Bosco with various events. Solemn Mass was presided over by Msgr. Geroges Abi Khazen, Apostolic Delegate of the Latins in Syria, in the presence of Cardinal Mario Zenari, Apostolic Nuncio in Syria, who brought the greetings of Pope Francis to the young people of Damascus.
08 - Calcutta, India - January 2017 - From 20 to 23 January over 500 young people from 30 Salesian schools of India and Nepal came together for various events to celebrate family values, promote social harmony and call for peace, inspired by the theme of the Rector Major’s Strenna for 2017.
