01. Rome, Italy – December 2023 - Sunday, 17 December was a day of celebration for the Minor Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Rome, due to the taking possession of the deaconry assigned to Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco.
02. Turin, Italy – December 2023 - The General Councils of the Salesians and of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians met for their traditional meeting of dialogue and exchange of greetings on 22 December in Valdocco. The presence of Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, and his Council, and of Mother Chiara Cazzuola, with her Council, was a great testimony to the identity of spirit in the Salesian Family.
03. Turin, Italy – December 2023 - The traditional orientation and formation course for newly appointed Provincials was held from 10 to 22 December in Valdocco, coordinated by the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, and organised by Fr Patrick Antonyraj.
04. Kolkata, India – December 2023 – The 9th Congress of Salesian Brothers from South Asia began on 30 December, with the participation of Fr Ivo Coelho, General Councillor for Formation; Salesian Brother Jean Paul Muller, Economer General; Fr Biju Michael, Regional Councillor for South Asia; and Salesian Brother Raymond Callo, Coordinator of Formation in the East Asia-Oceania Region.
05. Guadalajara, Mexico – December 2023 - The Extraordinary Visitation to the Province of Mexico-Guadalajara (MEG), conducted by Fr Gabriel Romero, Councillor for the America South Cone Region, began on 1 December. Present was the Provincial, Fr Filiberto González, also Fr Pascual Chávez, Rector Major Emeritus, and Bishop Salvador Cleofás Murguía, bishop of the Prelature of Mixes-Oaxaca, both former MEG Provincials.
06. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – December 2023 – On 11 December, the Italian Government Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, visited the Salesian Bosco Children work in Addis Ababa, belonging to the Ethiopia-Eritrea Africa Vice-Province (AET). He was accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Agostino Palese.
07. Salamanca, Spain – December 2023 – Celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the presence of the Salesians in Salamanca began on 8 December with the Eucharist celebrated in the church dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. Fr Fabio Attard, Extraordinary Visitor to the St James the Greater, Spain Province (SSM), on behalf of the Rector Major, was the main celebrant.
08. Juba, South Sudan – December 2023 – The Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region, Fr Alphonse Owoudou, visited the five Salesian communities in South Sudan during the Christmas holidays.
