01. Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy - August 2023 – Following up a traditional practice, this year, on 16 August, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, presided over the Eucharist in the Basilica of Colle Don Bosco, to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the Saint of the Young together with hundreds of young people and pilgrims.
02. Ulaanbataar, Mongolia - August 2023 - From 21st to 28th August, Fr Alfred Maravilla, the General Councillor for Missions, visited the three Salesian presences in Mongolia which has eleven Salesians working in: Ulaanbataar (since 2001), Darkhan (since 2005) and Shuwuu (since 2007). The Salesians in the country offer technical training, animate the small Catholic community, and take special care of the youth at risk and the poor in their localities.
03. Aparecida, Brazil - August 2023 - The national meeting of the Salesian Network of Brazil (Rete Salesiana del Brasile - RSB) took place from 28th to 30th August, with over 400 representatives from the 10 SDB and FMA Provinces that make it up. Provincials, Executive Directors, Coordinators of the different areas of the Network and the National Commission for Youth Ministry were present along with Fr. Miguel Ángel García Morcuende, the General Councillor for Youth Ministry for the event.
04. Anisakan, Myanmar - August 2023 - Fr Joseph Nguyen Thinh Phuoc, the Regional Councillor for East Asia-Oceania, completed his Extraordinary Visit to Myanmar on 17th August, (begun on 26 July). During these weeks, he visited all the communities, listening to and dialoguing with the confreres, the young people, Past Pupils, students, and members of the Salesian Family.
05. Turin, Italy - August 2023 - The 5th edition of the School of Salesian Spiritual Accompaniment, for the Italian and Spanish-speaking Salesians, kicked off at Valdocco in August and concluded on 23 September. A total of 24 Salesians from 15 Provinces and Vice Provinces took part. These originated from 13 countries and 6 different Regions of the Congregation.
06. Chennai, India - August 2023 - A meeting of the Delegates of Formation of the South Asian Region was held from 2nd to 5th August at the Don Bosco Provincial House in Chennai. The event was attended by the Salesian Formation Delegates from 11 Provinces of India and the Vice Province of Sri Lanka. Sessions were animated by Fr Jose Kuttianimattathil and Br Raymond Callo, SDB, of the Formation Sector.
07. Lubumbashi, R.D. Congo - August 2023 - The "Don Bosco" University of Lubumbashi has now become a reality. The Steering Committee has announced the launch of this Salesian institution in the academic year 2023-2024, through the merger of four Salesian institutes of higher education. It will be the first Salesian University in Africa, as the Provincial of the Central Africa Province, Fr Guillermo Basañes, pointed out.
08. Nairobi, Kenya - August 2023 – The 3rd Congress of the Volunteers of Don Bosco (VDB) of the Africa and Madagascar region was held from 1st to 6th August, on the theme "Being prophets in Africa". The Congress was attended by 52 VDBs from 13 countries, in the presence of their 13 Salesian ecclesiastical assistants. Fr Joan Lluís Playà, Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Secretariat for the Salesian Family - and two FMA delegates of the Salesian Family too were present for the event.
