Fr. Ivo Coelho, General Councilor for Formation, Fr Francisco Santos Montero, of the Dicastery for Formation, and Fr Timothy Ploch, Councilor for the Interamerica Region, are taking part in the meeting.
Also present, the Provincial Delegates for Formation of the Interamerica Region: Edison Capellan (ANT), Andrónico Terrazas (BOL), Javier Adolfo Rivas (CAM), Rubén Darío Jaramillo Duque (COB), Jorge Iván Pérez (COM), Robert García (ECU), Morachel Bonhomme (HAI), Evaristo Olmos (MEG), Ignacio Ocampo (MEM), Juan Pablo Alcas Michilot (PER), Michael Pace (SUE), Rafael Montenegro (VEN). Also, Salvador Delgadillo, CSFPA director (Salesian Center for Continuing Formation of America) of Quito, and Fr Miguel Aguilar, director of CRESCO (Regional Center for Salesian Brothers).
The meeting is held every year, its aim to discuss the Rector Major's project for Formation. It is also an opportunity to reason together on what are the criteria and guidelines to be followed in the region in the field of Formation.
During the meetings, there was also discussions on how to make the most of post-novitiates, the training of formators and statistics on formation in the Region.
"This year there are many themes," explained Fr Ivo Coelho. "In particular, we wanted to focus on the study we have done, in these years, on Salesian personal accompaniment. But there are other topics on which it is necessary to dwell. We are preparing for the October Youth Synod and for the presentation of the General Chapter. Furthermore, we also await important canonizations, such as that of Pope Paul VI and Msgr. Oscar Arnulfo Romero," he concluded.
