(ANS – Gwangju) – As in every Don Bosco School, lunch time is the most precious time for the accompaniment of the young - being present among students as a father, an older brother and a friend. Even at the “Salesian Junior & Senior High School” in Gwangju, Korea, that has just recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, this 'golden time' with youngsters is both lively and extremely interesting.
(ANS - Rome) - For many people, October 5th is a date like any another. But like every year since 1994, October 5 is World Teachers' Day, and this year's theme was: "Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers." And what are the Salesians doing in 132 countries? What Don Bosco, Father and Teacher of Youth, taught all his life: educating.
(ANS – Aleppo) – Despite difficulties and the possibility of emigrating, Rania Salouji, a 40-year-old Christian in Aleppo and her family. Neither the violence of war and fear for an increasingly uncertain future, nor the two-month and half captivity of her husband by an extremist group specialised in abductions for ransom, or what she calls her "most difficult time", the death of a child at a catechism school killed by a rocket, were able to get them to leave.
The transmission of faith presupposes that parents live the real experience of trust in God, seeking Him, needing Him, because only in this way 'one generation narrates your works to another, announces your accomplishments.' (Sal 144, 4) (p 33)
