- Pope Francis’ encounter with the young. The main objective of WYD is to offer a unique and special meeting between the Holy father and young people from all around the world. Nevertheless, the key players in this WYD encounter are the young people themselves who will experience many special moments with the Supreme Pontiff in reflections and Mass, during the Way of the Cross and in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
- There is an experience of a family atmosphere with the local Church. Few events in the world succeed in bringing so many people from so many countries together as the WYD does. Pilgrims from 150 nations have registered for the 2019 event. All together, independent of flag or language, they will take part in the activities praying, singing, dancing and celebrating the Eucharist, offering a testimony of love and mutual acceptance.
- Gifts are exchanged there. One of the WYD traditions is the exchange of souvenirs among pilgrims from all over the world.

When people come back home after experiencing the WYD, they are no longer the same. WYD broadens their view of the world, gets rid of prejudices, opens their hearts to he needs of others, motivates them to change their life and the world, in Christ, as Catholics.
