(ANS - Rome) - The International Congress of Salesian Works and Social Services was held from September 28 to October 2 in Turin-Valdocco, an important moment of reflection and sharing of the experiences matured by the Salesian Congregation in this sector, and whose objective was to strengthen the charismatic identity of pastoral action in this field. A few weeks after that appointment, the Sector for Youth Ministry, which promoted and coordinated the whole activity and which daily accompanies the work of Salesian Works and Social Services, shares the conclusions that matured after those five days of intense work, great participation, and much Salesian commitment.

For the Salesian Congregation, the International Congress of Salesian Works and Social Services 2022 was an event of truly global scope: a delegation from each of the 91 Salesian circumscriptions scattered in 134 countries around the world took part, for a total of about 300 participants, lay and consecrated, active in social works and services.

But it is not just a matter of numbers: the quality of the proposed interventions, the richness and diversity of the stimuli and points of view offered, and the deep Salesian rootedness of the entire program of work, constituted an environment capable of recharging all participants in their daily commitment to the service of the first recipients of the Salesian mission: the poorest and neediest young people.

As one of the participants testified, "at the Congress, I met wonderful people and listened to stories of boys and girls that made me rediscover the meaning of my work."

Now, in order not to nullify that moment of grace, but rather to fortify it and make it fruitful in its practical implementation, the Sector for Youth Ministry makes available the conclusions and final words of the Turin assembly; in the awareness, as stated by Fr. Miguel Angel García Morcuende, the General Councilor for Youth Ministry, that, "the end of the Congress is only the beginning of a long-term challenge and commitments in our reality."

The document is available at the bottom of the page in five languages - Italian, English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
