Uganda - Daily life in Palabek

Palabek, Uganda - September 2021 - Despite the effects of the pandemic, in the Palabek refugee camp, there are numerous activities that are carried out on a daily basis, thanks to the help of the Salesians and their supporters. In recent months, the first group of the Salesian Family, the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA), was launched, the international World Refugee Day was celebrated, a new church dedicated to the Holy Cross is about to be completed, and a new space for childcare was inaugurated. In addition, more than 250 young refugees from South Sudan have dedicated themselves to growing fruit and vegetables, which they can now integrate with the regular ration offered by the World Food Program.

We make Holiness consist in always being joyful,” said Don Bosco, and joy is certainly not lacking in all those Salesian courtyards which, in recent weeks, are being populated for the Youth Summer Camps. Many young people, after a difficult year marked by restrictions, have returned to fill the Salesian centers in every part of the world, to play, have fun and spend time together. Always respecting the safety measures, the kids are ready to live to the fullest this summer 2021.
