On 2 May the Rector Major visited Leon. He met with the Rectors of the various houses of the Saint James the Greater Province and thanked them for their service to the confreres. He spoke about the major challenges they face in the task of leadership and government of the works. He spoke about the care of the confreres. "You have to accompany the confreres in all stages of life, and so I encourage you to continue to work at creating welcoming communities which have the warmth of a home." In addition, he urged the Rectors "to be the guarantors of the Salesian charism and to guarantee the identity of the works."
The Rector Major then celebrated Mass with the Salesian Family. "Are our hearts really open to being touched by God? Sometimes we are engrossed in many things ... plans, projects, etc. and this hinders God from being God in us. When we let Him enter our hearts, in fact, he leads us to risky places." He added that we must bear witness "to the one they are trying to silence in today’s society."
Fr Á.F. Artime was really happy in the place where he had been provincial. He visited the older Salesians to whom he imparted the blessing of Mary Help of Christians. He also addressed words of gratitude to them for all the years they had given in their work for young people. He said: "We must go out to meet God, as Pope Francis says."
