In the first session of the morning, the discussion was around the reconfiguration of the works in the region. Fr Roque Sibioni, from the Province of Brazil-San Paolo, was the first to outline the path being followed in his Province. Later Fr Nestor Castell, Provincial in Uruguay, told how the process of re-dimensioning of works has gone in his country and he gave the criteria taken into consideration.
Subsequently Fr Filiberto González, Councillor General for Social Communications, introduced the topic of re-dimensioning in the area of social communication and noted that communication is not a sector or a dimension that has appeared in recent years in the Congregation. Communication, which includes evangelization and education, is at the origin of the Salesian charism and the Congregation. Don Bosco integrated evangelization and education and lived them inseparably. At the base of Salesian communication is ‘Da mihi animas, cetera tolle’. Like Don Bosco, we seek “the glory of God and the salvation of souls''.
Fr Eusebio Muñoz, Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family, then spoke. He emphasized the importance of the "Charter of Identity of the Salesian Family" which states that "the Salesian charism is not complete without the presence of other groups of the Salesian Family". Fr Muñoz concluded his contribution by inviting all to the meeting of the Provincial Delegates for the Salesian Family to be held from 4 to 6 September in Brasilia.
The third session began with the report of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime. He introduced the theme of the economy at provincial level and stressed the importance of the presence of the laity for the Salesian Mission.
In the fourth session, the groups presented the work done on the subject of "Social Communication" and "Salesian Family."
The day ended with the words of the Rector Major, who gave a summary of the work done.
