RMG - Appointment of the new Superior of Central Africa (AFC)

(ANS - Rome) - The Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of the General Council, has appointed Fr Albert Kitungwa Kabugé new Superior of the Maria Santissima Assunta Province of Central Africa (AFC), for the six years 2017-2023.

Fr Kitungwa Kabugé was born on 15 December 1972 at Kipushi, Democratic Republic of Congo, entered the Salesian novitiate at Kansebula, in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1997, made his perpetual profession on 9 July 2005 in Lubumbashi and was ordained priest on 15 July 2006 at Kafubu-Kansebula.

He originally belonged to Our Lady of Peace Province in French-speaking West Africa (AFO) but changed to AFC in 2014. He was a member of the House Council in Koumassi in Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Administrator in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; and Rector and Director of the Oratory in Cotonou, Benin. He is currently Rector of the Provincial House of AFC in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He served the AFO Province as Delegate for Missionary Animation, Delegate for Youth Ministry and Delegate for Ongoing Formation. In the AFC Province he is currently Delegate for Youth Ministry and Vice-Provincial.
