(ANS) – A Reflection-Sharing and Discussion on the Jubilee of Communication was held on 8th March 2025, as part of Luminata 2025 – Celebrating Communication. The session brought together BOSCOM General Body Members, Media Animators, Salesian Family In-charges, and Advisors and Collaborators in Salesian Media Ministry for an engaging discourse on the evolving role of communication in contemporary society.

The program began with an opening prayer, setting a reflective tone for the gathering. Fr. Francis Xavier SDB then delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of the event in promoting a culture of responsible and faith-driven communication. This was followed by a general introduction by Fr. Ernest Rosario SDB, who provided an overview of the event’s objectives. Fr. Joyston Machado SDB introduced the keynote speaker, Fr. Thomas Antony Raj, O. Praem., the Director of Media and Communications for the Diocese of Jabalpur. Fr. Raj highlighted his extensive experience in media and evangelization.

Fr. Thomas Antony Raj, delivering the theme presentation on “Jubilee of Communication: Disarming, Informing, Sharing Hope,” highlighted the transformative potential of communication in promoting truth, unity, and hope amidst the pervasive challenges of misinformation and digital overload. He emphasized the ethical imperative of communicators, emphasizing the significance of integrity, transparency, and a steadfast commitment to truth in media practices. Participants were urged to harness the power of digital platforms for both social and spiritual engagement, ensuring that communication serves as a catalyst for inspiration, education, and positive societal impact.

Following the presentation, an interactive Q&A session enabled participants to engage with the speaker, seeking clarifications and sharing their insights. A discussion segment facilitated deeper reflection on the key themes, with participants exchanging perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in media ministry. The group discussion presentations provided an opportunity for attendees to articulate their reflections and propose suggestions for enhancing responsible and purpose-driven communication.

The session concluded with Fr. Ernest felicitating Sr. Theresa on receiving the Gooden Book Award. Fr. Thomas Anthony expressed gratitude to the gathering for their active participation and the opportunity to be the keynote speaker. Fr. Joyston Machado SDB delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speaker, coordinators, and participants for their contributions. The event reaffirmed a collective commitment to strengthening Salesian media initiatives, ensuring that communication continues to bridge gaps, foster faith, and promote a message of truth and hope in today’s world.
