Under the title ‘Communicating today looking to tomorrow’, the 11th Salesian Conference on Communication, promoted by the Salesians in Spain will offer keys and challenges to improve the communication of Salesian bodies and presences. It is an event aimed at local Delegates and those in charge of communication in centres and educational bodies who are the primary recipients of the initiative; but, as in previous years, it is also open to Rectors, Pastoral Coordinators, those in charge of youth centres or parishes, or anyone from different groups and environments with a sensitivity for communication.
The event, which has been held continuously in person since 2014 (with the exception of the 2021 and 2022 editions which were held online due to restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic), will bring together leading personalities in the field to explore key issues for the present and future of communication, and will allow for synergetic work on the design of projects to improve Salesian communication today.
The programme includes several high-level conferences and workshops. It will begin on the morning of Thursday 13 February with a welcome and presentation of the significance of the day by the National Delegate for Social Communications for the Salesians in Spain, Fr Javier Valiente, and will address questions such as ‘How do we prepare for the new scenarios? What role does digital evangelisation play?’.
In addition, there will be an opportunity to listen to experts from different fields, in the style of ‘TED talks’, with insights on Artificial Intelligence, by Andrés Corbacho. There will also be a presentation by Laura Davara, lawyer, trainer and writer, expert in data protection, social networks, Artificial Intelligence and children. Her talk will focus precisely on these aspects and the impact of new technologies on children and adolescents. The proceedings will continue with a presentation by expert Andy Stalman on ‘Digital transformation’ and the importance of the brand plan in the age of digital transformation to improve the overall image of the Salesians.
During the second day, another point of view will be offered, with various workshops on crisis communication, from managing reviews, to the Communication Plan; from social network dynamics and SEO and web positioning, to Storytelling and editing in ‘Capcut’.
Young people involved in the tasks of animation, dissemination and management of the various Salesian houses in Spain will participate in the round table ‘Youth activity in communication’. Finally, the conclusions of the day will be presented and the meeting will be closed by Fr Fernando Miranda, Superior of tSpain’s mary Help of Christians Province (SMX).
More than 100 participants have already registered and, once the places are filled, a waiting list will be created for possible vacancies.
To disseminate the initiative, the Salesians of Spain have also created a website https://salesianos.info/jornadadecomunicacion where all information, speakers and last-minute details will be updated until the event takes place.
