Argentina – Missionary documentary “‘Estamos todos’. El sueño salesiano llega a América"

20 December 2024

(ANS – Buenos Aires) – Saturday, A documentary short film "Somos todos. El sueño salesiano llega a América" (This is us. The Salesian dream reaches America) was screened on 14 December 2024, as part of the opening of the celebrations and commemorations for the 150th anniversary of the Salesians in America. The screening took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is an original production by the Salesian Bulletin Argentina, accessible free of charge to all through the Web.

With an interesting interweaving of history and current affairs, and based on the story told by the Salesian Néstor Zubeldía, this production presents the journey and arrival of the first 10 missionary pioneers led by Fr John Cagliero. Sent by Don Bosco himself, they ventured into the unknown, with the sole aim of continuing the dream and mission of the Saint of the Young. They had to open paths, starting from scratch, learning or relearning practically everything, and they had to be strong. One hundred and fifty years later, the Salesians, the Salesian Family and the friends of Don Bosco are called to continue, develop and recreate that mission. But to do so, there is a need to remember and be grateful.

In addition, as part of this very special year for the Salesian Family in Argentina, in America and in the world, a dedicated website - www.salesianos150.org – has also been launched that contains various resources such as biographies, historical documents, general information relating to the First Salesian Missionary Expedition in 1875 and the 2025 anniversary, including a complete calendar of activities and events that will take place over the next year.
