Born on April 9, 1965, in Granada, Colombia, Fr. Jaramillo Duque completed his Salesian novitiate in La Ceja from 1986 to 1987 and made his first vows there on January 24, 1987. He professed his perpetual vows in Bogotá on January 31, 1993, and was ordained a priest on October 21, 1995, in his hometown.
He has served as a Rector in several houses of the Province: the Theological Studentate in Bogotá (2005-2007), the Salesian Presence at Fusagasugá (2009-2014), the “León XIII” institute, also in Bogotá (2017-2018), and in Mosquera (2018-2019). Since 2019, he has returned to work at the Theological Studentate in Bogotá, first as Vice Rector, then as Economer, Parish Priest, and finally as the Rector.
At the provincial level, he has been the Delegate for Formation (2019-2021) and again since last February. He has also served as the Delegate for the Salesian Family (2021-2022), specific Delegate for Salesian Cooperators (2024-present), and since June 2023, he has also been the Vice Provincial.
Fr. Rubén Darío Jaramillo Duque will succeed Fr. John Jairo Gómez Rúa, who has led the COB Province since July 28, 2019.
