The Salesian Schools Commission in Europe, composed of both laypeople and religious, is responsible for reflecting on, updating, and networking the Salesian school presence in Europe and the Middle East.
The main theme of the meeting, led by Antonio Rodríguez, the coordinator of the commission, focused on mental health within Salesian educational communities. Antonella Sinagoga, from the Youth Ministry sector, who was also present at the meeting, provided guidelines for supporting this important and relevant aspect.
Dr. Rodríguez presented the key findings of a large-scale study conducted in Salesian schools across Europe in collaboration with the “CES Don Bosco” University in Madrid, which collected, organized, and coordinated more than 33,000 responses.
Among other notable speakers was Sara Sechi, Executive Secretary of Don Bosco International (DBI), who shared with the commission the advocacy work carried out by her office in Brussels, at the official institutions of the European Union.
The commission also had the opportunity to visit the Salesian work in the nearby town of Minsk Mazowiecki and the city of Warsaw.
The meeting served not only to allow each province to examine the findings of the research they had received but also to discuss ways to improve the emotional well-being of Salesian educational communities. In a Salesian atmosphere of warmth and pastoral spirit, with genuine camaraderie, the bonds of friendship between the provincial school coordinators were strengthened.
At the end of the meeting, expressions of gratitude were given to the "St. Stanislaus Kostka" Province of Poland-Warsaw (PLE), the local Missionary Procurator, and the educational community of Minsk Mazowiecki for their warmth, kindness, and generosity.
“The Commission of Salesian Schools in Europe had the great fortune of seeing firsthand the magnificent educational and pastoral work being carried out in Poland. We congratulate ourselves,” commented Dr. Rodríguez.
He concluded: “From our meeting, it was clearly evident that the school is a magnificent and extraordinary pastoral platform.”
