Strengthening ties with Salesian communities
Since his arrival, Fr Ngoboka, former Superior of the Africa Great Lakes Vice-Province (AGL) in the six-year period 2018-2024, has visited several Salesian works in Benin, testifying to the importance that the Congregation attributes to the accompaniment and supervision of ongoing projects. From Cotonou to Porto-Novo, passing through Parakou and Kandi, his program of visits allowed him to immerse himself in the reality of the Salesian mission, through dialogue and discussion with the teams of Salesians, lay people and young people. In this way, the Visitor was also able to understand the challenges and successes of local educational and pastoral missions.
The exchanges between Fr Ngoboka and the community leaders not only made it possible to share reflections on the initiatives and projects in place, but also helped to outline ways to strengthen the impact of the missions with young people; and in his talks with the various members of the Educative and Pastoral Communities, he reiterated the commitment of the Sons of Don Bosco to work for the integral development of people, with particular attention to young people, who remain at the centre of Salesian concerns.
A visit to consolidate the Salesian commitment
The Visitation process, which until 20 November will also touch the other five countries of the Province, is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts already made in various fields, including the education of young people, Salesian formation and spiritual accompaniment. Fr Ngoboka, as the representative of the Rector Major, embodies this desire for unity and support for all the Salesian communities in the region.
Aimed at ensuring the smooth running of the Salesian projects, this Extraordinary Visitation aims to give new life to the teams active on the ground and to strengthen cooperation between the various Salesian houses of the AON Province.
