The meeting was attended by 37 formators from various stages, including representatives of the Salesian Brothers Regional Centre (CRESCO), in Guadalajara, Mexico, and of the Salesian Ongoing Formation Centre in America, based in Quito, Ecuador. The meeting took place at the São Vicente – Lagoa da Cruz Institute – where the postnovitiate curatorium is located.
In the first part of the meeting, psychologist Alex Bachega delved into the ethical question of spiritual accompaniment. Also in the formative part of the meeting, Fr Wagner Galvão spoke on spiritual accompaniment.
Between the first and second phases of the meeting, the formators were able to visit facilities at the Dom Bosco Catholic University and the Dom Bosco Museum of Cultures, two important Salesian works in the city of Campo Grande, as well as the Pantanal Biopark, one of the city's major tourist attractions.
The second phase of the meeting was dedicated to the meeting of the Delegates for the Formation of the two Regions that embrace Salesian America with the National Commission for the Formation of Brazil (CNF) and the Interprovincial Commission for Salesian Formation (CIFSAL). Among the topics discussed were the differences among the houses of formation in each Province, the importance of the curatoriums, the reality of the Congregation and a brief presentation of the updates to the Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis et Studiorum, the document that regulates the formation of Salesians and establishes the guidelines and criteria for the formation process, from the beginning of religious life to permanent ongoing formation.
The event was characterised by moments of shared fraternity and spirituality, and typical Salesian joy.
