Among the highlights of the triple agreement are access to the specialisation program in Environmental Education aimed at teachers, the organisation of conferences on environmental issues, the realisation of joint research and publications, the strengthening of the volunteer program and the execution of joint campaigns and initiatives.
The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities from the three instituitonal signatories. Representing the Salesian Don Bosco Foundation were Fr Baltazar Santana, on behalf of the President of the Foundation, the Superior of the Salesian Province of the Antilles (ANT), Fr José Pastor Ramírez, Ray González as Vice-President, and Fr William Batista, Head of the Environment Unit of Salesian Youth Ministry. They were also accompanied by three young people from the Salesian Ecological Movement and José Ortega, Executive Director of the Foundation.
For the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University, the Rector, Archbishop Miguel Fiallo Calderón, and Mrs. Dolly Martínez, Director of the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, participated in the event. The Rica Foundation was represented by its President, Julio Virgilio Brache Álvarez, by Mr Wenceslao Soto, Executive Director, and by Mrs Arelis Rodríguez, member of the Rica Foundation Board of Directors.
The agreement that has been signed symbolises the firm commitment of the three institutions to work collaboratively to create opportunities for the benefit of young people and society. The actions and programmes deriving from this alliance will focus on promoting quality environmental education, encouraging the active participation of young people in ecological issues and strengthening volunteering as a tool for social transformation.
With this alliance, the Salesian Don Bosco Foundation, the Rica Foundation and UNPHU reaffirm their dedication to education and sustainable development, laying the foundations for a brighter future for young people and the community in general.
