The 125th anniversary of the work in Oświęcim, which occurs this year, is a special feast for the entire Salesian Family in Poland, for the Salesians, young people, teachers, parents and numerous Past Pupils of Don Bosco, from the centre, but not only that: the school is also the Mother House of the Salesians for all Poland, that is, the oldest Salesian house in the country.
Throughout this period there have been no shortage of problems and difficulties; yet, there have always been years of passionate work with young people and animation of the local community, with a variety of religious, cultural and educational initiatives.
The pinnacle of the celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the Salesian school in Oświęcim will be reached in the weekend of 18 and 19 May, involving the entire Salesian Family and the school's supporters and benefactors.
The program of the Jubilee includes a Mass of thanksgiving; the 13th Salesian Family Picnic; various concerts, competitions with prizes, moments of fraternal agape and numerous cultural and sports proposals.
A charitable purpose will also be added to these celebrations: to raise funds to support Victoria, a sick seven-year-old girl, in her difficult recovery and return to fitness.
Organisers of the event are the Salesian community in Oświęcim, the Parents' Council and the Management of the Salesian Schools in Oświęcim; the Salesian Cooperators, the teachers, the school board, the pupils, as well as the parishioners of the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Oświęcim.
