Victoria Mónico, Salesian Cooperator, in charge of the ASC regional area, welcomed all the participants; Martín Calderón, World ASC Councillor for the region, addressed a few words to the participants, commenting that he would be going to the World Council meeting from 14 to 17 March, and inviting them to pray for this activity. Fabricio Umaña then introduced Fr Campoli.
The aim of the meeting, held in Spanish, was to promote responsible use of social networks, being clear about the image one wants to present to others through these media.
Fr Campoli referred to various authors, and explained some aspects that make up the digital identity of people on the web. He developed the topic by inviting his listeners to ensure that “our behaviour in real life is the same as our behaviour in digital life”, emphasising that everything experienced in the digital world helps us to create connections, but that it all depends on each person's digital use and responsibility.
After the presentation, Salesian Cooperator Lorena Valenzuela led a question and answer session. Then, Juanita Silva, Head of Formation in the region, invited young Salesian Cooperators from the region to participate in the 2nd Salesian Cooperators' Meeting, to be held from 11 to 14 April in Antigua Guatemala.
The presentation, opened and closed by two brief moments of prayer, was broadcast live via Zoom and Facebook, with participants from the 13 countries that make up the Inter-America Region, as well as Salesian Cooperators from Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador and Peru.
The meeting, organised by the Regional Secretariat, is still visible on the Facebook page of the ASCs in the Intermerica Region.
